History of GKTC
Before being known as Grand Kru Technical College (GKTC), we were first known as Grand Kru Vocational & Technical Training Institute (GKVTTI) created by an act of 2016 to provide TVET training to the people of Grand Kru County (GKC). In October 2018, classes begin at GKVTTI with a workforce of ten persons and an enrollment of about 150 students in a free school program of Basic Computer Science, Plumbing, Masonry, and Architectural Drafting.
An act creating GKVTTI was repealed, and an act was approved by the President of the Republic of Liberia creating GKTC on March 20, 2019, which led to GKTC being upgraded to college level and given a budget line in the National Budget. Currently, GKTC is only running the college of Engineering & Technology, and there are ongoing plans to add the colleges of Business, Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Education, and Health Sciences.
